Excitement Surrounding the Launch of the New Model
We are thrilled about the initial photography of the popular new Excess 14 catamaran model we have just received from Groupe Beneteau. Anticipation is quickly building with online buzz as well as internally here within the Murray Yacht Sales Team – all of us are looking forward to representing hull #1 in her US Debut at the 2023 Miami Boat Show.
Sleek Design
An initial gander picks up on the sleek lines that make this boat look so sexy and fast. Look closer and notice a multitude of bold design features that set her apart from all other cruising catamarans on today’s market. The brilliant naval architecture expertise from the legendary VPLP design have pushed to make this boat irreverent to the current market, taking a completely fresh look at what can be done with a cruising catamaran to unlock those thrills of sailing that are central to the Excess Catamarans DNA.
Fixed Bowsprit
Adding to that sporty design of the 14 is the fixed bowsprit, a legitimate performance-enhancing feature that enables flying code 0’s tacked far forward without losing strength or structural rigidity. The bowsprit comes in two options of length, which directly impacts the length overall (LOA) of the vessel. Design True to the Excess DNA
Nobody is surprised that the 14 features dual aft helms, a sacred principle of the brand staying true to that sailing feeling closer to a monohull. However, several nuances can be picked up from the below shot of the cockpit, including the new helm seat design. With a new fiberglass base, this already feels like a very sturdy, comfortable place to sail from. The seat folds directly up (to outboard) allowing an opening for boarding from the transom.
Another thing to notice is the cooler / bar on the starboard side – this multipurpose area can be used for a range of applications and adds to the versatility of this cruiser. Just on the other side of those sliding glass doors is the full galley and salon.
The panoramic windows offer a clear view of the horizon and are critical for visibility from those aft helms. The open layout of the Excess 14 allows inside and outside entertaining, dining, and cooking to be done all on the same level. This means the helmsman can easily socialize with the rest of the crew and is not separated on a second or third level.
