The Beneteau First 21.0 was introduced in 1992. World wide, there may be 900 or more First 210s/211s under sail today. In 1993, the First 21.0 was voted “Boat of the Year” in its class at “North American Sail Expo”. When U.S. production was discontinued in 1996, approximately 120 hulls had been made and sold in the U.S. Some 60% of these were blue hull, swing keel models. The rest were white color hull, bulb keel “Classic” models. The blue hull “First 21.0” featured double rudders, genoa furler, stern pulpit, pop up sky-lit hatch, racing hardware, back stay adjuster, lights and stove. Both models are trailerable. Options on both models included a mast raising system and spinnaker gear. In Europe, this Groupe Finot design was called the First 210 Spirit. The Groupe Finot web site at http://www.finot.com reports 870 F210s produced since 1991.
In 1995, a “210 Club” was organized in Europe to promote camaraderie among owners and “one design” racing/cruising events. Apparently, that effort failed as there have been no “one design” rules nor scheduled class sailing events. In 1998, Beneteau re-introduced the F210 as the “First 211 Spirit”. It is essentially the same as the original First 21.0, swing keel model, but with these improvements: anchor well, enclosed cockpit hatches, galley, retractable double rudders and nicer interior decor. Excellent descriptions and pictures of the new First 211 are at: http://www.finot.com and http://www.beneteau.com.

Beneteau First 210: Standout Trailerable – Bob Perry Review
Beneteau First 210: Bob Perry’s design review
Let’s go small and look at a trailerable boat. This one is from the board of Group Finot and built by Beneteau. It is a very different approach, abandoning tradition and going after speed and convenience with modern design features.
The benefit of this type of boat is the ability to move easily to exotic or semi-exotic locations for regattas. The 210 will make a great daysailer or a camp-style cruiser. While trailerable sailboats are seldom examples of refined design, the First 210 shows design innovation aimed at sparkling performance and eye appeal. This boat is also unsinkable.

Beneteau First 210 Spirit – good introduction to cruising
This sporty yet unsinkable little trailer-sailer by Jean-Marie Finot (Groupe Finot), Bénéteau’s preferred designer up to around 3Oft (9m), is a good introduction to cruising for dinghy sailors with growing families.
