Flagship event of the Beneteau Figaro Circuit, the Solitaire du Figaro is now THE benchmark for all sailors wishing to compete single-handed with equal opportunity. It is a legendary race, which has lost nothing of its magnificence since it was created 45 years ago. All the racers now recognize that this event is essential in single-handed racing and also a great source of pleasure. In 1990, the organizers chose one-designs and selected Beneteau and its “Figaro Solo” as partner. In 2003, the Figaro class renewed its trust in the builder, assigning it the development of a new one-design. In eleven years, the Figaro Beneteau II became established as an essential boat for any sailor wishing to compete offshore.
For the 15th year running, BENETEAU has chosen to remain close to racers and will patron the ranking of the first participation, known as the BENETEAU Bizuths (Newcomer) Ranking. BENETEAU will also be making its Antares powerboats and drivers available to the organization to embark journalists from the written press and audio-visual journalists on the French legs of the race. The skippers will take to the start in Deauville, on 8 June. This year, the leg towns selected are Plymouth in England, Roscoff and Les Sables d’Olonne. The race will finish in Cherbourg-Octeville, where the prize-giving will take place. Thirty skippers will take part in this 45th Solitaire du Figaro, including Yann Eliès (winner of the last race), Gwenolé Gahinet and Paul Meilhat (winning duo of the Transat AG2R LA MONDIALE) and Jérémie Beyou (twice participant of the Vendée Globe).
