Congratulations to skipper Grant Dumas and Crew for winning Class G of the 2012 Sperry Topsider Charleston Race Week.
The team aboard BeneRound, the Marion made, stock (including air conditioning and all the cruising options) Oceanis 37 with a nice complement of easy, performance upgrades, sailing superbly and amassed a final score of five 1st and one 3rd to win class G in varied and at times fluky conditions. As SAIL magazines Best Around the Buoys contenders, Grant and his experts were very consistent and proved that in a new Beneteau Oceanis you can have a competitive fun boat to sail without sacrificing comfort. All the crew were complimentary about how well BeneRound sailed, what a fine job the Marion team did putting her together and how impressively beautiful she is. Perry Lewis from North Sails Chicago (not in the above photo) was aboard to ensure that the most performance was wrung out of the mid-tech, club racing, sail inventory of a spinnaker, a dacron crosscut main and a 108% overlapping roller furling jib- that all they used, no big sail inventories needed! We are putting a club racer package option together for the Oceanis 37 and will offer it in 2013.
Our sincere appreciation to Grant Dumas and Crew for their wonderful efforts, taking great care of the fresh out of the box BeneRound and doing a truly great job.
