Manufacturer Provided Description
The Prout 46 achieves the perfect balance of luxurious space and long term livability within a performance envelope that is optimized for shorthanded cruising. The 46 is as ready to roam the world's ocean highways as she is capable of slipping into the shallowest lagoon and settling on a deserted beach. The Prout 46 incorporates many unique features to further enhance her seakeeping qualities. Hydrodynamic winglets on the low aspect ratio keels reduce pitching and improve windward performance. Skeg mounted rudders have been carefully balanced to lighten helm loads, increase responsiveness, and enhance the speed through the tack. Diagonal torsion control bulkheads virtually eliminate twist between the hulls when plugging into short steep waves. Like all the best engineering, these developments are unseen to those fortunate enough to enjoy life aboard a Prout cruising catamaran. The Prout 46 boasts a main saloon on its upper level extending to over 100 square feet. Ten guests can dine in complete comfort and - if the location merits - enjoy views in all directions. Alternatively, the variable subdued lighting can be adjusted to create an ambiance of great intimacy and charm. The port side master cabin suite is of a size and specification one would expect in a luxury powerboat: full king-size double bed, generous dressing area, wardrobes, ensuite shower - WC, and a fully featured shower room are a recipe for prolonged cruising comfort. A "Pullman" cabin forward to port has twin berths and ensuite toilet - washroom. Principle guest facilities are a mirror of the master suite - this time on the starboard side - with the option of a king size double or generous twin singles, ensuite wash - toilet room, and luxurious shower. Ken Freivokh has designed a galley for the Prout 46 that is capable of delivering the high standards of cuisine the owner of such a craft would expect. Its cool colors, graceful curves, and sweeping work surfaces provide a safe working environment that would be the envy of a monohull yacht two or three times the length. And of course the equipment inventory, refrigeration, and storage facilities have been carefully selected to complement the outstanding design.
