A new law affecting boaters is also taking effect January 1st.  It requires anyone born after January 1, 1988 who operates a 10 horsepower or more boat, to pass an approved boating safety course.  After completing the course, boaters will be required to carry a photo ID and their boater safety education badge. There are some exemptions.
