At the Lakefront Management Authority Board of Commissioners‘ October 2024 meeting, the Marina Master Plan for the Orleans Marina (Orleans Levee Board Marina) & South Shore Harbor was officially adopted.
The Lakefront Management Authority manages, controls, regulates, operates, and maintains any non-flood protection facility or improvement asset or function within a levee district within the jurisdiction of a flood protection authority.
Marina Master Plan – Executive Summary
The goal of this feasibility study is to assess the physical condition of Orleans and South Shore Harbors, prepare a market analysis to identify boater preferences and community goals, and prepare a concept redevelopment plan and cost estimates for the improvement of the facilities. Specific objectives include:
- Physical condition assessment, recommendations for improvements, and cost estimates for improvements.
- Identification of trends in the local and regional market that will affect the future development, size, amenities, and configuration of the facility.
- Incorporation of current design standards and codes, such as the ADA standards for Recreational Boating, and current electrical shock drowning safety standards and electrical codes.
- Recommendations and cost estimates for future development.
