Regata al Sol
In 2026, Gulf Coast sailors will set off on the 33rd edition of the Regata al Sol, the legendary offshore race from Pensacola, Florida, to the sun-soaked shores of Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Co-hosted by Southern Yacht Club, Pensacola Yacht Club, and Club de Yates Isla Mujeres, this biennial adventure begins May 5th and 6th with a dramatic start in Pensacola Bay. From there, racers take on a 555-nautical-mile course across the Gulf of Mexico, navigating the powerful Gulf Loop Current toward the island jewel of Isla Mujeres—just off the Yucatán coast near Cancun.
And the excitement doesn’t stop at the finish line. As soon as the first boats appear on the horizon, the island comes alive with festivities, culminating in an island-themed trophy presentation on May 14th.
