Notice of Race: Harvest Moon Regatta
Location: Galveston, Texas to Port Aransas, Texas.
Organizing Authority: Bay Access Sailing Foundation
Hosted by Lakewood Yacht Club
- Skippers’ Meeting at LYC – Friday, September 30th at 7 PM
- Race Start – Thursday, October 6th at 2 PM
- Awards – Saturday, October 8th at 7 PM
- Donuts and Coffee – Sunday, October 9th at 7:30 AM
COURSE:
The 140-mile race will start in Galveston, leaving the Freeport & Matagorda Outer buoys to starboard en route to Port Aransas, Texas.
SCORING:
The Cruising and PHRF classes will be scored based on PHRF Time-on-Time scoring. The
Bacardi Fleet will use either the single number ORC Harvest Moon Regatta Time-On-Time or
single number All-Purpose Time-On-Time scoring. The Multihull classes will be scored based
on PHRF Time-on-Distance scoring.
PRIZES:
12.1 Divisions: Trophies will be awarded to the first four places in each division with at least
eight boats.
12.2 Fleets: The Bacardi Cup will be awarded to the first place ORC Spinnaker boat in the
Racing Fleet. The Cameron Cannon will be awarded to the first place boat in the Cruising NonSpinnaker Fleet. The John Broderick Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the first place boat in
the Cruising Spinnaker Fleet. The Founders’ Award will be awarded to the first place boat in
the Multihull fleet.
12.3 First to finish: First to finish awards will be based on elapsed time. The Bill Hall
Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the first monohull to sail the course and finish the
race. The Mayor’s Trophy will be awarded to the first multihull to sail the course and finish the
race.
12.4 Luna Trophy: To encourage women in yacht racing, the Luna Trophy will be awarded in
the Cruising Non-Spinnaker Fleet based on lowest corrected time, to a boat whose skipper and
primary crew are women. One male owner’s representative may be part of the crew but may not
act as the person in charge.
