Wayne Burdick, president of Beneteau USA, was awarded the Sail Industry Leadership Award Oct. 7 during Sail magazine’s annual luncheon at the U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Md.
“Through the years, Sail’s Industry Leadership Award has recognized great leaders of all kinds – sailboat manufacturers, marketers and influential sailboat dealers,” publisher Josh Adams said in a statement. “In Wayne Burdick, we recognize an industry leader who wears all of those hats in one.”
Burdick has been with Beneteau USA since 1997. He created 80 percent growth in sales and production and currently oversees a network of 30 sailboat dealers in 50 locations in the United States and Canada.
Prior to joining Beneteau USA, he was president of Jeanneau America for six years and the owner of a yacht dealership.
Apart from his role at Beneteau, Wayne’s contribution to the marine industry is extensive. In addition to serving on the boards of the National Marine Manufacturers Association and Sail America, he is a key strategic voice on sailboat shows in North America and has served as past president of the Connecticut Marine Trades Association.
