- Find Label Yamaha Engine Outboard Transom Bracket
First locate the Model Number located on a label on the outboard’s transom bracket. All Yamaha outboards manufactured between 1984-2004 will have this identifying sticker on the transom bracket of your outboard motor.
- Identify Model Number
The top number is the model number. What you are looking for is the last letter in that model number. Once you have that letter, use the chart in the next step to identify the year of your engine.
- Match the last letter in that Yamaha Model # to one of the following
2005 = D
2004 = C
2003 = B
2002 = A
2001 = Z
2000 = Y
You can also match the other codes such as model description, shaft length, and fuel induction. - For Yamaha Engines Newer than 2005
Yamaha changed the way they identify the manufacture year of their engines starting in 2005. On these engines a separate stamp with the “MFG Date” is located on the transom bracket. This stamp simply states the month and year that the engine was manufactured.
