Alacrity was built by Fortuna Boat Builders, a professional builder, in Cape Town South Africathen launched in 1990. For the next several years, Alacrity sailed proudly in the waters of theSouth Atlantic before her next adventure.Alacrity was completely overhauled in 2006 for a global circumnavigation. The hull, from about12 above the waterline to the keel, has a progressive 6 to 12 additional layers of fibreglass toreinforce the hull in preparation of the circumnavigation.Alacrity has 2 separate lifting ring positions on the main cabin roof.
