Description
There is a reason the Mainship 40 Sedan Bridge continues to enjoy a loyal following decades after her introduction. Rather than chasing maximum speed or flashy styling, Mainship focused on what owners value most long after the excitement of purchase has worn off: comfort, practicality, generous living space, and a deck layout designed for the way people actually use their boats.
Step aboard and that philosophy becomes immediately apparent.
The salon is bright, open, and inviting. The galley keeps the cook connected with family and guests. Two private staterooms provide genuine overnight accommodations, while the separate shower is a feature owners quickly come to appreciate during extended weekends or longer cruises. Outside, a spacious cockpit, expansive flybridge, and convenient swim platform create multiple areas for relaxing, entertaining, or simply enjoying life on the water.
One of the Mainship’s most distinctive features is her exceptionally practical bridge design. Wide molded fiberglass steps replace the nearly vertical ladders found on many sedan bridges of this vintage, making access noticeably safer and more comfortable for guests of all ages. Once on the bridge, a centerline walk-through provides direct access to the foredeck for anchoring, handling lines, or simply enjoying the view from the bow. It is one of those thoughtful design details owners appreciate every time they leave the dock.
This particular Mainship has benefited from a number of thoughtful updates that bring her comfortably into modern cruising. Recent additions include an AC/DC refrigerator/freezer, two-burner cooktop, microwave, Garmin GPS, Garmin VHF radio, two Marine Air reverse-cycle heating and air-conditioning systems, and synthetic teak-style decking throughout the cockpit, bridge steps, flybridge, and exterior walkways.
Power is provided by twin 7.4-liter Marine Power gasoline inboards. For owners whose cruising consists primarily of weekends, coastal exploration, dockside entertaining, and family adventures, gasoline power offers an attractive combination of lower acquisition cost, straightforward maintenance, and readily available service compared with many diesel-powered alternatives.
Comfortable, capable, and exceptionally spacious for her size, this Mainship delivers the accommodations and livability of a substantially larger yacht while remaining approachable to own and operate.

Full Details
Accommodations and Interior
Large side windows flood the salon with natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere that makes the interior feel noticeably larger than her dimensions suggest. Updated seating, attractive cabinetry, and generous floor space provide a comfortable environment for relaxing with family or entertaining friends.
Opposite the salon seating, a dedicated dinette offers comfortable dining while remaining connected to both the salon and galley. The open arrangement allows everyone aboard to remain part of the conversation whether preparing meals, enjoying dinner, or spending a quiet evening at anchor.
Forward, the primary stateroom features a queen berth with generous storage and convenient access from both sides. A separate guest stateroom with upper and lower berths provides genuine privacy for family or overnight guests rather than simply additional sleeping space.
The head is equipped with a marine toilet, vanity, sink, and storage, while the separate full-size shower significantly enhances comfort during extended weekends or longer cruises
Galley
Positioned within easy reach of both the salon and dinette, the U-shaped galley was designed for owners who actually enjoy spending time aboard rather than simply preparing a quick meal before heading ashore.
Generous counter space, excellent storage, and a practical appliance layout make meal preparation easy while keeping the cook connected with family and guests.
Features include:
· AC/DC refrigerator/freezer
· Two-burner cooktop
· Microwave
· Stainless-steel sink
· Extensive upper and lower cabinetry
· Generous countertop workspace
Two Marine Air reverse-cycle systems provide heating and air conditioning throughout the accommodations.
Cockpit and Swim Platform
The spacious cockpit offers exceptional versatility. Whether entertaining guests, enjoying dockside evenings, handling lines, spending an afternoon fishing, or simply relaxing with family, the area provides generous usable space without feeling crowded.
A transom door leads directly to the swim platform and boarding ladder, making boarding from the dock or enjoying time in the water both convenient and secure.
Synthetic teak-style decking gives the entire area a clean, updated appearance while continuing seamlessly onto the bridge steps, flybridge, and exterior walkways.
Flybridge and Foredeck
The flybridge is one of the defining features of the Mainship 40 Sedan Bridge.
Rather than serving solely as a helm station, it functions as a genuine second living area with comfortable seating, excellent visibility, and plenty of room for family and guests to enjoy the ride together. Protected by a Bimini top, it naturally becomes the preferred gathering place whether underway, anchored in a quiet cove, or enjoying sunset at the dock.
Forward of the helm, Mainship’s signature walk-through provides direct access to the foredeck. This thoughtful arrangement simplifies anchoring and line handling while creating an unusually natural flow between the boat’s outdoor living spaces.
The foredeck is equipped with stainless-steel safety rails, bow pulpit, anchor, and electric windlass.

Summary
Some boats impress with horsepower. Others with polished woodwork or gleaming stainless steel.
The Mainship 40 Sedan Bridge has earned her reputation by doing something far more valuable—making time aboard remarkably comfortable.
Her bright salon, practical galley, two private staterooms, separate shower, expansive flybridge, spacious cockpit, and intelligently designed deck layout combine to create a cruising yacht that feels noticeably larger than her forty-foot length would suggest.
Finding forty feet of comfortable cruising accommodations, two private staterooms, generator, air conditioning, modern electronics, and an inviting flybridge at this price point has become increasingly uncommon.
Clean, thoughtfully updated, and attractively priced, this Mainship represents an exceptional opportunity for the buyer seeking genuine cruising accommodations, comfortable entertaining spaces, and outstanding value. She offers an uncommon amount of boat for the money and stands ready to begin her next chapter on the water.
